The Hawaiian Aloha Spirit – The HDQ Pono Program
In the Hawaiian Language, “Aloha,” means: affection, peace, compassion and mercy. While, “Pono,” means: goodness, moral, correct, proper procedure or simply, “Doing the right thing.”
At HDQ, we recognize the importance of being a committed community partner, and we strongly believe in working with our neighbors to help improve the communities we serve. As a result, Patrick Mehring created the “HDQ Pono Program” in 2012, which is an ongoing initiative that focuses on significant efforts to support organizations within our growing community. Our goal is to provide fundraising support and bring awareness to these organizations and their causes.
We have supported school and sport team fundraising events as well as local club chapter reunions. In the past the Diary Queen Hawaii team has also welcomed troops returning home from active duty, collecting donations for the local Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children to supporting the local Pearl City High School Reunions. Our employees believe in giving back to our community through generous support of various programs and charitable organizations and we want to support them. From the President to our Blizzard Cake Decorators, in everyday generosity and major disaster relief, HDQ Inc – Dairy Queen Hawaii is honored to serve the community that supports our locally owned and operated businesses.
Support for Local Community Organizations
DQ® Orange Julius® restaurants and franchisees in North America generously support charities and schools in their communities. Most direct requests for financial support, products, coupons or gift cards are funded through your local DQ® Orange Julius® restaurant or office in Hawaii. For a specific location, you can direct your questions/requests to the HDQ Pono Program.
